ANIMAL FARM AND OTHERWISE...

Boy, I just keep getting lazier and lazier! I think the hot weather is getting to me.  I forget to blog sometimes!!

The nice thing is that the hot weather is bringing the nicest Creole tomatoes. I have one every night for dinner. Have about five chilling as we speak. And Washington Parish watermelons are ready. Now that's summer!

Been doing a lot of stitching and framing. I'll have photos later. I"m being slow about downloading them from my camera.

In the meantime........

These little beauties appeared on my gazebo a few hours ago. It's unusual for raccoons to come out during the day. I'm thinking Mama was showing the babies the lay of the land. I would love to pet one, but they are a little dangerous. And usually carry a hefty dose of rabies. Still ....the little ones are cute. I made the photo with my iPhone thru the den window.

And here's Linzie. It's been raining for a couple of days and she doesn't like the rain or the thunder and lightening. She sticks close to me, but when I'm stitching I don't need close company. She climbs into the chair nearby and sleeps or watches me. She's such a little love! Look at those eyes!

Well, I'm off to stitch again. I've just finished the first part of Anniversaries of the Heart. I've already taken a few stitches on February. It is an absolutely fantastic piece.

So......stay cool, everyone and Happy Stitching.

Tommy's growing tomatoes, too. I like'm fresh from the garden, still warm from the sun!

I used to love watermelon whan I was a kid, but not so much now. I'll eat some from a salad bar or something, but I don't love them like I used to.

Tomatoes and watermelon. Mmm! About the only things good about summer.
Not to worry you about those raccoons, but when they come that close in the daytime, it can signal rabies. Doing things out of character is one of the signs.
And Linzie is just precious. So sweet!

We've been feeding mama coons during the day every spring for years. They roam during the day when nursing, then start taking food back to the babes. If they are losing balance, walking in circles, falling over, it's contagious distemper and they need to be put out of their misery. If not, it's generally a mama! Your little Linzie is adorable.

I've never seen a racoon but they always look so cute in movies. We don't have rabies here but I suppose Linzie has to stay away from racoons.

I've never seen raccoon babies!

I love watermelon season. I wish I could get them year round as they're one of my favorite fruits. I must admit, I kind of miss the ones with seeds.

Racoons are very handsome animals. What does Linzie think of them? My Grace gives me that same look all the time... why you stitching mom? Come play!!!
